This stylish vintage couture 1950s silk taffeta coat dress with wide lapel and French cuff detail is smart, feminine and easily adaptable. The fabric design is a rose pattern in soft pastel shades of dusk pink, lotus green, cream and indigo , emboldened in places with a touch of navy or mulberry. The designer of the piece is unknown, however this piece is couture and artful tailoring has achieved an air of modernity alongside classic New Look era glamour. The wide lapel collar opens onto a central button stand featuring 2 x over sized buttons covered in matching fabric. Batwing sleeves with bell cuffs serve to accentuate the dainty waistline, while skilfully positioned forwards facing pleats on either side of the navel creates flattering structure and movement at the hip. The collar swoops into a glamorous cape style at the reverse. The dress is unlined and must be stepped into to be worn. In beautiful condition, would best suit US size 4, UK size 8-10. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in. (163cm) and this dress was roomy on her.
